Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic)


                                          

The Sri Dalada Maligawa is located in the kingdom of Kandy in the central Province of Sri Lanka. It holds immense importance for Buddhists due to its historical significance and the fact that it houses the relic of the tooth of the buddha. Princess Hemamali and her husband, Princess Dantha, carried Gautama Buddha’s tooth relic hidden in her hair to Sri Lanka. Additionally, the building’s structure and architecture resemble that of a royal palace.


When visiting the dalada Maligawa, foreigners are required to purchase tickets, and it is mandatory to dress modestly. If one is dressed in shorts or revealing clothing, white material sarong is provided to cover the body appropriately. Moreover, walking around Kandy Lake offer a calm and peaceful experience.

A visit to Sri Lanka would be incomplete without experiencing he spiritual and cultural richness of the Sri Dalada Maligawa
